Zema announces investment of R $ 25 billion with installation of electric vehicle factory in RMBH. Project is expected to start running in June this year and generate almost 14,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Governor Romeu Zema signed, on Friday (3/5), a protocol of intention between the State and the Bravo Motor Company for the implantation of a factory of electric vehicles and battery packs in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte. The company is part of the group that developed the first electric car in Latin America. The estimated investment for phase 1 of the project, called Colosso Project 1, is R $ 25 billion.

New investment phases are planned for other regions of Minas Gerais, with the production of lithium batteries, and should be the subject of future protocols with the company.

Zema celebrated the initiative and stressed that it should bear good fruit for the miners in the long run.

“It is an enterprise that opens a very positive scenario for the future. We know that, in the coming decades, the automobile industry will have to fully reinvent itself, moving from the current type of motorization to electric motors. We will start this process in Minas Gerais and Brazil. We will do everything to make these roots very consistent and, regardless of who is here, may this prosper as much as possible. It is a unique moment, in my management, to receive something so innovative and that can generate so much positive change in this state that we love it so much ”, said the governor.

Potential

The CEO of Bravo Motor Company Brasil, Eduardo Javier Muñoz, said that the potential of Minas Gerais has led the company to focus its operations in Brazil here.

“Industrially, our initial strategy was to open three factories in Brazil. One in Minas, another in the South and another in the North. In December, on my first visit here, I quickly understood that we would have to make a big effort and that we should concentrate on Minas Gerais. It is very important to understand that we are coming to Minas Gerais to bring industry 4.0, increased efficiency and transparency. Increased efficiency from the point of view of entrepreneurial technology, and increased transparency from the point of view of the implementation and integration of this technology and services with the population ”, he explained.

The Deputy Secretary of State for Economic Development , Fernando Passalio, highlighted the growth of the Minas Gerais economy.

“Minas has made a breakthrough as an increasingly solid, diversified, sustainable and promising economy with the trends of the global market. This investment is the result of the recognition of the diverse potential that the state has. I begin by talking about the technological potential and an expressive innovation ecosystem ”, he recalled.

The project

The estimate is that the factory of electric vehicles and battery packs will start to be implemented in June 2021 in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte and will start operations in 2023. The estimated production for 2024 is 22,790 units of vehicles and 43,750 units. battery pack units. The total investment of R $ 25 billion should be made by the end of 2029 and it is expected that 13,813 direct and indirect jobs will be generated.

During the agenda this Friday, a cooperation protocol was also signed between Bravo and the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex), to support the actions.

Apex's investment manager, Roberto Escoto, highlighted the importance of working together to attract good investments to the state.

“ Indi has an extremely professional and proactive team, and we have been working closely together. Minas has been a reference for other states. Apex understands that the attraction of foreign investments is much more effective when we have this level of integration that we achieved with the state of Minas Gerais. There is no doubt that this investment is innovative, it will generate a large amount of qualified jobs and transfer technology to the whole country, ”he said.

Green economy

In addition to generating jobs and economic benefits, the implementation of the new plant will generate significant gains for the environment, since the electric car is more sustainable and less polluting.

In addition, electric vehicles tend to be quieter and more efficient, have lower fueling costs and lower tax and maintenance costs.

The investment attraction director at Indi (Integrated Institute for Economic Development), Ronaldo Alexandre Barquette, believes that the project should be an example for the whole country.

“The implementation of this project takes Minas Gerais to a new level of development of disruptive and sustainable technologies not yet seen in Brazil, focused on electric mobility, with the development and production of electric vehicles and their components. It reflects the importance of Minas Gerais in the most varied sectors of the economy and its constant search to remain at the forefront of technologies that facilitate and improve people's lives, ”he said.

The company

The company ArqBravo Group started operating in 2008 in Argentina. In 2019, it created the first cutting edge energy community for the production of batteries, sunroofs and vehicles in California. In Brazil, it currently produces electric mobility projects in Pará, with a fleet of 1,100 electric vehicles in Belém. In 2021, the group opened a CNPJ in Minas Gerais under the name Bravo Motor Company Brasil.

Industrial Cluster

Industrial Cluster is a group of companies dedicated to applied innovation in the areas of urban mobility and energy, where high energy density lithium batteries, urban mobility vehicles (people and goods), energy storage systems, communication nodes for satellites, induction charging systems, robots for use in logistics and fire fighting, electric motorization systems for mobility of people with motor disabilities and public transport systems.

Investments in Mines

Until February 2021, Minas closed more than R $ 95 billion in investments via Indi, in addition to the protocol signed this Friday. Only the R $ 25 billion signed by Bravo is almost equivalent to all the investment attracted between 2015 and 2018, which was a total of R $ 28.2 billion.
